The Meowtropolitan Cafe in Seattle

A black cat and a black and white cat at a Cat Cafe

I love animals – pretty much most animals. I’ve always loved cats for their aloof, “I’ll allow you to pet me when I feel like it” attitude. Because we have a family member who is very allergic to cats, we can’t have one as a pet, so when we found out that there was a Cat Cafe in Seattle, we made a beeline to it!  Seattle Meowtropolitan is the perfect Seattle venue – drink your latte while petting cats!

There were nearby parking spots despite this Cafe being on 45th in Seattle.  The Cafe felt immediately welcoming, with its yummy coffee smells and cute signage.

My first thought when I saw the signage that said $13 for 50 minutes with the cats includes a latte was “I won’t want that much time.” But of course, we were the last ones there!

We fell in love with all the amazing kitties, both resident cats and those available for adoption. After ordering our lattes and Cat Macarons (which were yummy) we were led into the Cat Lunge, where the petting began!  It was 2pm, and most of the kitties were pretty sleepy. We enjoyed going around and meeting all of the beautiful cats along with all of our new coffee cat friends (There were about eight people in the Lounge with us). The Cafe provides toys to engage the cats with, but for us, the best part was sitting and petting the various cats.

I highly recommend this lovely spot  – it is super sensory friendly (as long as you are not allergic to cats!) from the soft cats, to the quiet atmosphere, light caramel coffee scent and huge windows letting in lots of natural light. You can be as mobile or still as you want, and it is lovely for young and old alike. If you have very active little ones, make sure they understand “soft touch” and allowing the cats to come to them: no chasing allowed. During some sessions, you can feed the cats! If you fall in love with the cats like we did, you can always take one home!
